State of Statelessness Poster

Drung Tibetan Filmmakers Collective develops and produces independent narrative and documentary films that explore themes of identity, displacement, cultural memory, and life in exile. Our work is rooted in lived experiences and community-based storytelling, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and authenticity.

DRUNG NOW - STREAMING PLATFORM

Drung Now is an upcoming digital platform currently in development by Drung Tibetan Filmmakers Collective. Conceived as a dedicated space for Tibetan and Himalayan stories, Drung Now aims to make independent films, documentaries, and cultural works from the region accessible to audiences worldwide.

The platform is envisioned as more than a streaming service. Drung Now seeks to support filmmakers working in exile and across borders by providing visibility, fair access, and a sustainable distribution pathway for underrepresented voices. Alongside curated film programming, the project will also serve as a hub for community engagement, archival works, and future original content developed within the Drung ecosystem.

Drung Now reflects Drung’s long-term commitment to building independent infrastructure for storytelling, ensuring that Tibetan narratives are preserved, shared, and experienced on our own terms, while reaching global audiences beyond traditional festival circuits.

EDUCATION & COMMUNITY

Drung conducts film workshops, screenings, talks by filmmakers and an open mentorship program to nurture young and up-coming filmmakers and story-tellers. Through these efforts, Drung team’s objective is to support and build a strong community of local filmmakers and story-tellers and make a conducive and sustainable environment for creatives to make quality films and contents.

MENTORSHIP

This three month mentorship programme offered by Drung Films will match up to two aspiring Tibetan filmmakers from India, Nepal and Bhutan with four senior filmmakers from around the world who will serve as their mentors. This programme hopes to advance storytelling and filmmaking in the Tibetan community by providing one on one guidance to the mentees as they each develop, produce and complete a short film. During the course of the three months mentorship, the mentees will be provided with a small monthly stipend to help them focus on their projects. Mentorship Opportunity
